SeaDream Connect CREW
Privacy

Your privacy on crew Wi-Fi

This notice explains what the crew Wi-Fi system collects about you, why, and who can see it. The service is run by SeaDream Yacht Club Limited, in agreement with SeaDream HR.

What we collect

  • Your account details, given at signup: name, department, role, contract dates, contact email, phone number and crew ID.
  • Your devices: the network address (MAC) of each device you connect.
  • Connection records from the ship network: when each device was connected, which access point it used and how much data it moved per session.
  • Support: tickets and messages you send through this portal, and your push-notification subscription if you turn notifications on.

Why

  • To give you Wi-Fi access and keep your account working.
  • To apply the daily data allowance fairly: your usage is added up per day, and a device over its allowance is moved to the portal-only network until the reset.
  • To help you when something goes wrong, and to keep the ship network secure and running well.

We do not look at the content of your internet traffic, and we do not record what you see on your screen. Error reports from this portal go to a monitoring service without your personal details.

Who can see it

The IT Officer on your yacht and SeaDream HQ IT administrators. They see usage totals and connection records, not content. Nobody else at SeaDream receives your usage data unless a support case or a security incident requires it.

The system is hosted with DigitalOcean in the United States, error reports go to Sentry, and emails from the portal are sent through Postmark, all under written data-processing terms.

How long

Your account details are kept while you hold a SeaDream contract. Connection records are kept to run and secure the service; a fixed retention period for them is being put in place and this notice will be updated when it takes effect.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, or object to how they are used, subject to what SeaDream needs to keep for the service or by law. Ask the IT Officer on board or contact HQ IT through the Support page. You can also complain to a data protection authority.
